Summer Research at Rice

Paid Science and Engineering Summer Research Opportunities at Rice University

Bionetworks

Internships are available to participate in ten week research-immersion programs at Rice University during the 2018 summer, which provide full-time financial support. No prior research experience is required. A link to the application can be found at:

https://my.rice.edu/undergradapps/

The goal of these programs is to provide community college students first hand experience with cutting-edge research in a range of departments, including Biology, Chemistry, Bioengineering, Chemical Engineering, Physics, and more. A description of the different programs can be found at:

Bionetworks
Biophysics

In the case of the Bionetworks program (10 week stipend = $5,250), the possible research projects will draw from a range of approaches (classical biochemical and genetic to non-trivial theoretical models that require computation) to studies of naturally-occurring genetic networks, artificial genetic and metabolic networks, and biomolecular structure, function, and evolution. Students will participate full-time in research and workshops that focus on responsible conduct in research, professional communication, career opportunities, and the graduate school application process. Students are also provided a creative opportunity to develop innovative biotechnological ideas and a capstone research poster symposium.

Applications should be submitted online by Feb 16th 2018.

If you have any questions about the summer program or application process, please contact Dr. Joff Silberg (joff@rice.edu) at Rice University.
