The Texas Southern University Chapter of HOSA-ΓΗΡ (Health Occupations Students of America-Gamma Eta Rho) returned to the Texas HOSA State Leadership Conference for the third time in three years to compete against more than 2,500 high school and college members. Officers Tommy Quach (President), Joan Tran (Vice-President) and Chi-Tam Nguyen (Treasurer) and Dr. Hector Miranda (adviser) led seven members to San Antonio, TX to challenge other established chapters at universities such as UT-Austin, University of St. Thomas, University of Houston, and UT-Dallas in health-related competitive events. Officers and members worked and studied diligently while finding time to initiate new members and improve team work by hosting numerous team-building exercises. Future officers participated in HOSA-sponsored leadership training seminars, which enhanced their ability to effectively lead the chapter for the upcoming year. After the three-day competition was over, all members were invited to attend the awards and recognition ceremony at the Lila Cockrell Theatre in downtown San Antonio. Despite being a young chapter, TSU-HOSA dominated the awards ceremony in many of the competitive events they participated in. All ten members placed in the “Top 4” of their event with eight members qualifying to advance to the National Conference in Orlando, Florida. TSU-HOSA would like to individually recognize each member who received an award below:
