The College of Science and Technology held an exciting ceremony for breaking ground on the construction of a state-of-the-art-building. The Chairman of the Board of Regents, Glen Lewis, and several Regents of the University, the President, John Rudley, the Provost, Sunny Ohia were present along with members of the administration, faculty, alumni, students and friends. Dean Lei Yu led the activities.
Dean Yu believes that the University has shown a strong commitment to improving the education of new science, technology, engineering, and mathematics students with this structure.
This building will house state-of-the-art facilities for teaching and learning that will make the college very competitive as an outstanding school of science and technology. The new building will be located on the corner of Wheeler and Ennis Streets, adjacent to the existing science building and completes the Science and Technology complex, which had been planned for many years. The College lost a building on this sight because it was irreparably damaged by hurricane Ike. The new building will have one-hundred-ten-thousand (110,000) square feet of space on four floors. This building will house the Departments of Aviation Science and Technology, Computer Science, Engineering Technology, Industrial Technology, Physics, and Transportation Studies.

Dean Lei Yu says, “The completion of this building will make our programs truly competitive with state-of-the-art equipment and 21st century facilities. This building is the latest effort by TSU to enhance STEM education and make the College a most attractive place for study and research.”
