Khosro Godazi serves as Associate Director of the Center for Transportation Training & Research (CTTR) at Texas Southern University (TSU). He is responsible for managing the CTTR budgets, scholarships and training programs. In this capacity, he serves as Director of the Summer Transportation Institute, now in its 11th year, designed to recruit high school students to transportation careers. In 2013, Godazi was awarded the Texas Department of Transportation’s Women in Highway Construction Program to increase the number of women working in construction careers. Twenty-two women successfully completed the program and are poised to begin careers in this expanding industry area.
Godazi has examined the deployment of solar-powered traffic control devices by evaluating the installation and maintenance costs of solar panels and LED retrofits versus traditional incandescent bulb installations. Using data gathered in Houston, TX, the study found that retrofitting traditional incandescent bulbs to LED, while initially costly, will yield benefits in less than five years.
