Supervisor: Jason Rosenzweig SB 316
The Rosenzweig lab is interested in characterizing bacterial stress responses in Gram negative bacteria. To achieve this, the lab expression, transciptomic approches, and cell culture infection model systems. The lab houses a Biolog microstation capable of identification of unkown environmental bacterial isolates in addition to the full cadre of molecular biology tools.
Additionally, the lab has begun focussing on environmental microbiology, through assesment and identification of bacterial species found in the Houston watershed. Conventional bacterial isolation as well as next generation sequencing is employed to characterize metagenomes. Active collaborations are maintained with UH, UTMB, and UTHSCH faculty.
