On November 3, 2022, the Department of Transportation Studies and Center for Transportation Training & Research hosted a workshop titled “Investigating the Challenges in Moving to US 2050 Climate Goals” at Texas Southern University.
This workshop sought to set the foundation for discussion about electric vehicles in the Houston Gulf Coast region and how to integrate residents of historically disadvantaged communities into this technological innovation.
Mr. Neil Pedersen, Executive Director of the Transportation Research Board of the National Academies of Science, Engineering, and Medicine, is the keynote speaker.
Mayor Turner offered introductory remarks on behalf of the City of Houston.
The conference attracted over 75 attendees who are local transportation planners, policymakers, and traffic engineers, along with the students and faculty members at Texas Southern University.
