Undergraduate Research Program in Data Science

PVAM – TSU Collaborative Research on Big Data Analytics

We invite undergraduates who are interested in data science for our summer undergraduate research program at TSU in 2019. The program will be 10 weeks starting June 3, 2019.

The selected students will work on projects including (but not restricted to) (a) Food Recognition App that uses computer vision and machine learning to automatically detect and classify the types of food and their caloric value from pictures taken by participants; (b) Augmented Reality Physics Lab App that uses computer vision and automation to reinforce and make concrete representations of physics concepts; and (c) App for Automatic paper forms, which uses optical marking recognition, image registration and machine learning to automate data collection of handwritten paper forms. Such projects provide a platform for students to gain practical problem solving ability.

The total stipend for each student is $4,000.
