The considered deterministic models are described by differential and integral equations. The emphasis will be made on interdisciplinary models with harvesting, pollution mitigation and environmental adaptation, and carbon sequestration. Their practical relevance, methods of investigation, and interpretation of obtained qualitative outcomes will be briefly reviewed. Challenges of mathematical modeling and comprehensive qualitative analysis of related optimization problems will be discussed. Versatility of mathematical models will be illustrated for several famous applied problems.

Biography: Dr. Natalia Hritonenko is a full professor of mathematics and interim associate dean from Prairie View A&M University. Her research interests include Mathematical Modeling in Economics, Population Biology, and the Environment; Applications of Optimization and Operations Research; Theory and applications of Partial Differential and Integral Equations; and Mathematical Education. She has published seven books and more than 130 papers on research and education. She serves in Editorial boarders for 11 international journals and has regularly been NSF reviewer and panelist. In addition, she has extensive experience in teaching and supervising students.

Time: 9:30 – 10:30am Location: SB147 and Zoom Title: Age- and Size-Structured Deterministic Models with Applications to Biological Sciences and Environmental Economics Abstract: Age- and size-dependent models are presented to address important current issues in biological and economic-environmental sciences.
