Benjamin O. Davis High School and Project 21 Campus Tour

dsc_0903-1 On Thursday, November 17th, and Friday, November 18th, 2016, the College of Science, Engineering and Technology (COSET), Office of Student Services and Instructional Support, hosted approximately 140 middle and high school students from Benjamin O. Davis High School in the Aldine Independent School District in collaboration with the TSU Office of Recruitment. The tours showcased the College through presentations of cutting edge technology in COSET laboratories. Department showcases included brief overviews of each lab to groups of students on the tour. Chemistry Department Chair, Dr. John Sapp, Dr. Oscar Criner, Interim Chair of both Aviation Science & Technology, and Physics Departments, and Dr. David Olowokere, Chair of the Engineering Department, and their staff members, supported efforts to attract and engage students with informative and demonstrative sessions about the College. Dr. Sapp coordinated the tours for the Chemistry Department laboratories, and motivated students interested in his area of expertise.

College graduation is becoming a critical, if not the most critical measure of both student and institutional success. Students received detailed supplementary materials regarding TSU admissions requirements, requirements for COSET majors, and support for ideas shared during the tour, as well as information on additional scholarships and strategies. dsc_0908-1
